Lynne Phipson Profile

Can You give us some background on your life: i.e. Where you were born, what school did you go to and your employment if any?

I was born in Stourbridge, July 27th 1960.  I attended Hob Green Primary and then Lye County Secondary School.  In 1976 after doing a 2 year secretarial course I started work as an Office Junior.  I still live in Stourbridge with my dog and cat and work in Netherton as an Office Manager for a commercial kitchen company.  I also work match days at WBA as an Executive Steward in the East Stand.

Who introduced you to Albion?

In 1966 my dad started taking me to WBA. He then took me to every home game.  I continued this until the early 80’s, when I stopped going for a short time.  I started going again in the late 80’s, eventually becoming a season ticket holder.

What was your first game?

Can’t remember

Have you an all time Albion hero and why?

My hero’s are the first team I can remember in the late 60’s.

Also Cyrille Regis and Bob Taylor.

What are the highpoints and low points of watching Albion?

High points, winning the FA cup, I remember going to see the team outside the stadium with the cup and John Osborne waving to my mom.

I will never forget the Great Escape, I burst out crying when the team came onto the pitch at the end. It still brings a tear to my eye when I watch the dvd.

Low points, any game when we are winning easily and somehow manage to lose!

Can you give us a brief history of your time spent on the Supporters Club Committee?

I first helped out on the committee at the Dinner in March this year taking past players to their seat.  I took my first minutes on May 3rd, since then have helped out at posting the new season application forms.

Have you any other interests outside football?

I swim each day. I love dancing, listening to music and walking my dog.

If there was one thing you could change in football what would it be?

I would like to have areas where you can stand and watch the game, rather than sit.
